The fabulous Avena Sativa from Asia Minor Oats have been grown in Norway for 2500 years.
Oats are “powerfood” when it comes to nutritional content. More and more people are discovering the exceptional properties of oats, not just in Norway, but also around the world.
Oats have a very beneficial fatty acid composition with a high content of unsaturated and monounsaturated fats, which have a positive effect on the lipids in our blood. Oats are also one of the grains with the highest antioxidant content. These neutralize free radicals in the body—atoms or molecules that can damage cells and DNA.
Oats contain as much as 8-10 percent dietary fiber! Among other things, oats contain a type of fiber called beta-glucans. Beta-glucans can reduce cholesterol levels in the blood and can therefore help prevent cardiovascular diseases. Beta-glucans also contribute to a slower rise in blood sugar levels.
Oats are rich in iron. To ensure the iron in oats is absorbed as efficiently as possible, it’s smart to serve foods that contain vitamin C alongside them, such as juice, fruits, and berries.
